ARTIST TALK by the prize winner on Thur, March 19th, 2020 at 19:30h at Secession
Artist Heba Y. Amin (b. Cairo, 1980) presents her extensive research and long-term projects that look at the convergence of geopolitics and technology. Her work relays the narrative of modern technological progress as one of empire and colonial exploitation and examines the concepts of domination and authoritarianism exercised through technology. Amin’s multimedia works often take a satirical approach to serious historical subjects that investigate the elusive nuances of global politics. Through her practice, she attempts to broaden our understanding of the contemporary condition by reversing the order of dominant political power enforced by techno-utopian visions and the violence inherent in those ideologies. see: www.hebaamin.com
